Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced today that it plans to create more than 2.000 new on-site and virtual job positions in Costa Rica. The new employees will reinforce the world-class service that Amazon provides its clients around the world in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, as well as the 24/7 service for countries in North America, South America, and Europe.
“The customer service operation in Costa Rica opened in 2008 with 75 employees. Today we have more than 15.000 specialized employees who offer the world-class service that characterizes Amazon,” Alejandro Filloy commented, the Customer Service Director for Latin America.
The on-site positions are located at its main headquarters in Heredia and Calle Blancos, and the virtual positions will be offered throughout the national territory. These positions include customer service agents, team managers at various levels, and operations managers.
Silvia Lara, the Minister of Labor in Costa Rica, commented that “we are very enthusiastic about the announcement by Amazon and would like to thank them for their commitment to developing quality jobs in our country, particularly at these times.” Ms. Lara also emphasized Amazon’s commitment to the subject of training, virtual employment generation, and employability for women and young people.
