CASS to open operations in Costa Rica
San Jose, October 29, 2015. The company CASS, together with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE) today officially inaugurated in Costa Rica a modern plant dedicated to the manufacturing of silicon-based medical devices.
CASS started operations in the Zona Franca Zeta Alajuela, with an initial group of eight people, that projects out to 100 employees over the next three years. The company made an initial investment of US $ 3 million in the country, in its modern specialized plant for one the most value added processes for the Life Sciences Sector.
The main activities of the company CASS are silicone molding, extrusion and silicone sheeting, as well as assembly and packaging of the pieces in controlled environments.
The Minister of Foreign Trade, Alexander Mora, celebrated the installation of CASS, whose presence comes to broaden the park of distinguished multinational companies in the life sciences industry, that operate global business from Costa Rica. "We welcome the announcement by the company and we extend a greeting and an honest recognition for their contribution to the country. The opening of this plant demonstrates the potential that Costa Rica has in such an important sector as the medical devices sector, which increasingly consolidates its dynamism and leadership in exports ". Also, Mora recalled that medical devices is one of the five value chains in which the country is globally integrated. "Our presence in the global value chain of medical devices is a real differentiator and a role model in the developing world, since with Costa Rican talent, we are producing goods of high value added that ultimately help save lives" he said.
CASS CEO, Dr. Raymundo Leon said that Costa Rica was chosen to host the first operation of CASS, thanks to the stability offered by the figure of Free Trade Zone, by the favorable socio-economic climate, the excellent commercial relations with the rest the world, and the great professional training of its workforce.
Likewise, Dr. Leon stressed that the strategic location of CASS allows quick delivery time, enabling our customers to reduce their inventory levels and, in the future, the possibility of a just in time system will be evaluated. He also stressed that CASS meets cGMP standards, has FDA registration and is ISO 13485 certified.
The Managing Director of CINDE, Jorge Sequeira said "CASS formally launched its operations in the country joining the group of companies in the Life Sciences sector, whose exports of medical devices, top the list of industrial goods sold abroad. We are confident that this company will help continue the path of growth of the sector and the country's success thus CASS is an innovative key supplier and strengthens the production that takes place in Costa Rica ".
