San José. 1 December 2014. The Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE), received an honorable mention for its work in attracting investment in the country and its commitment to creating quality jobs thanks to the arrival of multinational companies.
The President of CINDE, José Rossi and the Managing Director of CINDE, Jorge Sequeira, received recognition during the Entrepreneur of the Year award by the weekly journal El Financiero.
For the Managing Director of CINDE, Jorge Sequeira, the recognition highlights the high standards with which the organization works with in order to position the country among potential investors. "Convincing high-tech multinational companies about coming to invest in the country requires constant work and with the highest standards of work and that is precisely what we do every day in CINDE, working with international standards to achieve the objectives of the country by attracting businesses and creating quality jobs."
CINDE has also been considered by the World Bank as one of the top 10 national investment promotion agencies in the world, thanks to the results of its management and its private nature that allows agility and accurate response times that are suitable for investors.
The high-tech companies attracted by CINDE generate 81,500 direct jobs and 160,000 indirect jobs. In the last decade, the growth rate was 8.1% per year.
Of total jobs generated by CINDE, over 98% are held by Costa Ricans, 90% of the workers in medical device companies are women (to date, about 10,000 women work in this sector) and 80% of the payroll in the services sector are young people from public schools, especially technical professionals.
