San José, Costa Rica, August 17, 2022. Huntsman Corporation, a global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated chemicals, is expanding its Global Business Services (GBS) operations into Costa Rica. The company is set to create approximately 100 knowledge-worker positions over the next 18 months related to Accounting, Treasury, Credit, Human Resources, Purchasing, Communications,
Automation, Continuous Improvement, and Financial Planning and Analysis.
Huntsman produces more than 7,500 products to serve a variety of markets, including aerospace, transportation, construction, food preservation, and energy and fuels. The company selected the
America Free Zone, as the location for its Americas GBS hub because Costa Rica is a great fit for Huntsman’s culture and has excellent talent availability, safety, and infrastructure.
“We are looking for smart, inquisitive, and driven people who are always searching for ways to improve,” said Mauricio González, leader of the GBS hub in Costa Rica.
“Our core values of honesty, responsibility, respect, and integrity truly define our employees and the type of people we seek to hire.” The opening of its regional Americas GBS hub will provide high-value support to Huntsman’s regional and worldwide operations, enabling the company to better balance costs, service, value, and speed, while embedding continuous improvement in every facet of the business.
Manuel Tovar, Minister of Foreign Trade, commented:
“The establishment of the company Huntsman in the country contributes positively to the strengthening of the competitiveness that our country offers towards the services sector. The arrival of this American company will bring new vacancies in several areas, promoting the growth and professional development of its future employees. The services sector continues to be an important component of our economy, where from the Ministry of Foreign Trade, we will continue promoting robust investment attraction policies to continue maintaining Costa Rica as a strategic partner for world-renowned companies such as Huntsman”. The company’s GBS model in Costa Rica and around the world allows it to enhance employees’ skills and industrial know-how by investing in functional and career training. Huntsman offers challenging experiences that broaden employees’ skills and abilities, including personalized training and development plans, learning opportunities both virtually and on site, and carefully mapped job paths and career progression.
For his part, Jorge Sequeira, managing director of
CINDE, expressed his satisfaction with the establishment of the company in Costa Rica:
“Costa Rica is distinguished by its stability and above all by the capacity of its human talent to provide services with a global reach. Precisely, these conditions are what allow that, during 2021, knowledge-based services (KBS) represented more than 71% of the exported value of the services sector, that is, about $6,412 million. The dynamism of the service sector - of multinational companies - is also reflected in the high employability which has accumulated more than 100 thousand job opportunities generated in the last 5 years”. “Huntsman’s new GBS hub in Costa Rica is an important part of Huntsman’s strategy,” said Phil Lister, Huntsman’s Chief Financial Officer.
“We are focused on bringing differentiated solutions to the market, with innovation and sustainability at the forefront. The GBS organization supports all our business units and corporate functions in achieving our goals”. Huntsman’s family-like atmosphere is cultivated by its diverse groups of team members around the world.
