San José, November 21, 2019 - Procter andamp; Gamble (Pandamp;G) celebrates twenty years in Costa Rica. Its operation has been renown by its impressive evolution and innovation, its contribution to the national economy, its trust in the Costa Rican talent and its leadership in high impact projects to support the environment and the country’s communities.

Pandamp;G is listed as a pioneer and example in the Costa Rican services industry, supporting the country's foreign direct investment attraction strategy. It was the first company to establish a large-scale shared services operation under the Free Zone Regime, which has created more than 160,000 direct and indirect jobs.

"Procter andamp; Gamble is one of the most recognized and largest companies worldwide, not only for its large variety of products, but for its ethical standards and its staff. Pandamp;G’s practices are recognized as one of the best in marketing, business, logistics and finance. We are proud to have a company that has trusted in Costa Rica and its human talent over 20 years, with its largest service and logistics center that supports the entire region. It speaks very well of our human resources globally. I congratulate all the people who make this team a great operation," said the President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado Quesada.

“Costa Rica has moved from high volume and less complex operations to more sophisticated and high value-added activities. In this transformation, companies such as Pandamp;G have contributed to this evolution and have been key players. We celebrate 20 years of partnership and friendship but, above all, 1,500 opportunities provided by this company to our people. We hope that these ties continue to grow, generating value and quality jobs in Costa Rica,” said the Minister of Foreign Trade, Dyalá Jiménez.

"Our history has been followed by a rapid growth, extraordinary innovation and evolution hand to hand with Costa Rica. Over time, and thanks to Costa Rica’s great talent, we demonstrated that it was possible to do much more, leading the execution of high value-added operations,” said Fernando Calderón, Pandamp;G Communications Manager for Costa Rica.

Pandamp;G is the leading global consumer products company. In Costa Rica, more than 1,500 employees work in 3 highly strategic and high value-added operations: Financial Services Center for the Americas, IT Business Transformation Center for the Americas, and the Latin American Supply Chain Planning. These are professionals in business administration, accounting, finance, technology solutions, engineering, logistics and supply, among others.

The local talent represents 90% of the company's workforce, which has been a key player to Pandamp;G’s success in Costa Rica. More than 86% of management positions are filled by Costa Ricans, of which half are represented by women. During 2020, the company plans to hire more than 150 people in entry-level and management positions.

“Procter andamp; Gamble has been a success story in Costa Rica and an ally to attract more investment in innovative areas in the services sectors. It is an example of a multinational company that relied on Costa Rica at a very early stage of today’s consolidated services sector, and that has constituted not only in one of the most important, but also as a reference to other companies that transitioned to greater sophistication processes supported by the Costa Rican talent,” said Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director of CINDE.

Established in 1999, Pandamp;G has invested over 2 million dollars in high impact projects to benefit the environment and the Costa Rican communities. Although Costa Rica’s Pandamp;G operation has low environmental impact, it has developed initiatives to maximize the natural resources and reduce waste.

Also, Pandamp;G's commitment has been focused on high-impact projects with recognized NGOs (Business Alliance for Development, Paniamor, Unicef, Habitat for Humanity, among others) and government entities (Ministry of Public Education, Ministry of Health), with long-term programs such as "Eliminating Barriers", "Born Learning", "Happy Homes - Healthy Lives", among others.
