Costa Rica, April 9, 2021 – Viant, a life sciences company, announced that it has completed a major expansion at its medical device manufacturing plant located in Heredia, Costa Rica.
The company has invested in additional capacity to meet market demand for surgical devices, including electromechanical devices. This expansion will benefit all potential customers who seek speed in accessing high-quality, complex medical devices.

The company’s expansion began in 2020 and included 14,000 square-feet (1,300 square-meters) of assembly space and plastic molding in ISO Class 8 clean rooms, and retrofitted 15,000 square-feet (1,400 square-meters) of additional space for warehousing, offices, and support capacity, for a total 180,000 square-feet (16,700 square-meters) over four buildings.

This expansion includes 15 new molding machines that complement the liquid silicone rubber (LSR) molding capacity that was added in 2020. Costa Rica facility growth will also add up to 300 jobs in the Heredia area; this growth is already underway, and will continue throughout 2021.
Jorge Sequeira Picado, Managing Director of CINDE, stated “Exports in the life sciences sector have grown, on average, 13% each year since 2010, reaching almost US$4 billion in 2020. CINDE’s projections estimate that, by the end of 2022, exports could reach US$5 billion. Located within the Metropolitan Free Zone, Viant Costa Rica’s plant is a high-performance site, specializing in thermoplastic and elastomeric molding, extrusion, and complex assembly for interventional, surgical, and other medical devices and their components.
