San Jose, November 16, 2015. The US Company World Fuel Services (WFS), the Ministry of Foreign Trade (COMEX) and the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE), announced the expansion of operations of the WFS Shared Services Center in Costa Rica.
This company started operations in 1996, and due to the excellent results and the performance shown since, today it is expanding its business, with encouraging projections for future growth. In terms of employment, WFS expects to grow to 100 employees in the beginning of next year. This process ensures that it will require bilingual staff as well as employees with knowledge of Mandarin.
An important part of the decision to expand, made by the headquarters located in Miami, was based on the value that the company assigns to the quality and high qualification of the labor available in the country, the good English level and quality of the professionals they are able to find, which makes Costa Rica a strategic partner to grow their operations.
The Minister of Foreign Trade, Alexander Mora, stressed the importance of the news and applauded the decision by the company. "The expansion announced by WFS evidences, once again, the enormous dynamism that the services sector is showing in our country, today responsible for almost 72% of the gross domestic product, 69% of the jobs and will close above 40% of total exports. It also proves the attractive conditions that we continue to offer as the preferred location for many renowned companies to do business, to reinvest in activities of increasing levels of sophistication and value. I extend sincere congratulations to the company and its current and future employees, for which new opportunities flourish, and I thank them for their confidence again in Costa Rica, "he said.
The legal representative of WFS, Juan F. Martinez said "WFS is a global leader in fuel logistics specialized in the marketing, sale and distribution of aviation, marine and land fuels and related services. In May 1996, a WFS office for Latin America was opened in Costa Rica and after years of continued growth, in 2014 WFS makes the decision to bring this local representation to the next level in order to exploit the advantages offered by the country: high levels of education, high level of commitment of its employees, good command of English, but above all, the genuine commitment of the locals to deliver a top quality product."
The Shared Services Center in Costa Rica develops billing functions, customer service, cash applications, data management and managing the business relationship in the aviation and maritime sectors, accounting areas, information technology and human resources.
Jorge Sequeira Managing Director of CINDE, said "the decision of WFS to expand its operations in Costa Rica raises the opportunity, as a country, to continue providing value added services operations, thanks to the excellent human talent available here. The company has relied on Costa Ricans to service their business in Asia, Europe, North and Latin America and that speaks highly of the quality of our workforce."
Those interested in applying to one of the jobs offered by the company must have a high level of English, previous experience in Service Centers, studies in management, accounting, finance or related careers and may send their resume to the address CR-HRRecruiting@wfscorp.com
