Amazon Plans to Create More Than 2,000 New Jobs in Costa Rica

• The company is looking to increase its local workforce to continue to provide exceptional service to customers around the world.

(San José, Costa Rica)—April 20, 2020 — Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced that it will create more than 2,000 new full-time and part-time jobs in Costa Rica. These new positions will help the company continue to provide world-class support for customers in Europe, North America and South America through a variety of languages including English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, French, and Italian.

“Since opening our first Costa Rican customer service center in 2018, we’ve hired more than 9,000 employees,” said Alejandro Filloy, Customer Service Director for Amazon Latin America. “Our growing team highlights the exceptional talent we’ve found in Costa Rica and these new positions will only enhance our ability to continue helping customers around the world.”

Open roles include customer service, analysts, finance and accounting, software developers, content strategist, and fraud professionals. These new permanent and seasonal jobs include virtual work-from-home positions, which offer flexibility in scheduling and location.

“There are many things I enjoy about being a virtual team manager for Amazon Customer Service,” explains Melania F. “I like collaborating with my team and raising the bar but the best part of my job is the fact that I can do it from the comfort of my home which gives me the opportunity to be close to my family and friends.”
