AstraZeneca inaugurates the Integrated Finance Solutions (IFS) Americas Center for financial services in Costa Rica
● The biopharmaceutical company's investment is generating close to 100 new jobs in the country.
● The Financial Services are provided to all Americas, seeking to consolidate the country as its point of financial operations for the continent.
San Jose, Costa Rica, September 12th, 2017. The services sector continues to show signs of strength with a new and important player: AstraZeneca. Today the pharmaceutical company inaugurated the operation of its new financial service centre in the country.
With the name of Integrated Finance Solutions (IFS) Americas Center, the new site is located in Plaza Roble, Escazu, where the company already has its regional offices for the Central American, Caribbean Ecuador and Peru markets.
Ana Helena Chacon Echeverria, Vice-President of the Republic of Costa Rica, stated, “Since we understand clearly the business language, we work each day to cultivate synergies of growth and mutual development. Also, it is very satisfying that this selection has been based on the human talent of our people and their capacity to innovate. That is why we continue to strengthen the work that has been articulated to make the existing curricula more robust and reach even greater excellence in the formation of capabilities and knowledge.”
According to Agustin Lamas, Area President of AstraZeneca for the Central America region, Caribbean, Ecuador and Peru, the reasons that motivated the company to choose Costa Rica lie mainly in its political stability and legal security, as well as the quality of the talent available in the market.
In addition, Alexander Mora, Minister of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica, manifested, “For our country, the services sector is one of the main factors responsible for the economy´s dynamism and therefore, employment. In recent years, as product of technological innovation, the globalization of the value chain in the services sector has been consolidating as one of the most marked tendencies in the flow of commerce and investment in the world, and particularly in Costa Rica. From the Government, I reiterate to AstraZeneca and the services sector, the compromise of continuing to work with them to create the adequate eco-systemic conditions that will allow their operation´s success and growth on Costa Rican grounds".
Antonio Padilla, Director of the IFS, mentioned, "the investment comes to demonstrate the confidence that AstraZeneca has placed in the country and the capacity of the Costa Rican talent to achieve further growth of the company, not only at the local level but in all America".
Prior to the end of 2018, it is expected that the IFS Center will create close to 100 new employments.
For his part, Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director of the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE), expressed, “The diversification of the operations of companies in the country is an important sign of the capacity of our human talent. AstraZeneca will be contributing with new jobs to the Costa Rican economy and adding dynamism to the services sector that already provides quality and well- remunerated jobs to more than 51,000 Costa Ricans.”
The job positions available include financial analysts in the areas of sales and operations, as well as for accounting and taxes. The requirements to apply for these opportunities include having university studies in related careers such as business, finance or accounting, in addition to mastery of the English language and prior experience in finance.
