The activity took place from Friday, February 17 until Sunday, February 19, at the Antigua Aduana building, in San José.
Sunday, February 19th 2017. The thirteenth edition of CINDE Job Fair successfully concluded three days of intense participation by Costa Ricans, who sought a quality and well-paid job opportunity at the Antigua Aduana building.
This year, the participation of 8,350 people, who sought employment options in areas such as customer service, sales, technical support, software development, administration, accounting, finance, logistics, software development, advertising, and marketing, among others, was reported.
Vanessa Gibson, Director of Corporate Development and Investment Climate at CINDE, commented: "The expectations of the fair were fulfilled. This year the same companies have reported an improvement in the language levels and academic preparation of the candidates who came in search of a job opportunity. Many of them have already made formal job proposals and we hope that in the coming weeks more people will receive communication from companies and start recruiting processes. "
Several of the 57 multinational companies participating in the fair like Western Union, Sykes, Concentrix, Thompson Reuters and GFT confirmed the good academic preparation of the candidates, as well as an increase in the level of English and Portuguese proficiency.
For Susan Cordero, from the human resources department of GFT, her evaluation of the 13th CINDE fair is very positive in both the organization, the digital pre-registration process, as well as the number of attendees.
"I think this year the fair has improved a lot because almost all the people we've talked to are systems engineers with the required English level; they are our target audience and they are candidates that we may very well be hiring. People who know who we are and the professionals we are looking for precisely came to our booth, "Cordero said.
For Jairo Ureña, Site Director of Thompson Reuters, the candidates that they found throughout the fair will allow them to fill the different positions available.
"We found people with very good English and Portuguese levels, it had been difficult to find these professionals during the regular recruitment of our company. As a strategy we brought our operations managers to our stand, which allowed us to make pre-interviews to filter the candidates in which we are interested. We will take a couple of weeks to do the necessary tests with the candidates and during the third week we could be in the offer phase of the process and signing employment letters, "Ureña explained.
In the case of Bosch, they attended the CINDE Job Fair with the need to hire 150 new collaborators, to continue with their growth plan in the country. This was explained by Paulo Maia, director of Bosch Costa Rica.
"This fair has given us the opportunity to meet a lot of talent that has adjusted to our needs including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting and technical support. The quality of people we have had the opportunity to meet this year has been very good, we have managed to have an important attendance at our booth and many of the candidates have been invited to participate in processes that we will close in the short term, "added Maia.
Recruitment processes take an average of three weeks to three months.
