Costa Rica will host fourth edition of the international Life Sciences Forum
• It expects to gather more than 500 experts and companies’ leaders in the world industry.
• Event is organized by CINDE and is one the most important forums in the Latin American sector.
• New Costa Rica Convention Center will be the venue, where it will host exhibitors and audience from the United States, Latin America, and Europe, next October.
San José, Costa Rica. May 17th, 2018. On October 15th and 16th, Costa Rica will gather high-level exhibitors from the life sciences industry, as well as decision makers from the companies that are global leaders in the sector, key suppliers, consulting firms, and others, in the fourth edition of the
Life Sciences Forum Costa Rica 2018, organized by the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE).
The recently inaugurated
Costa Rica Convention Center will be the venue that will receive more than 500 people from the United States, Latin America and Europe.
How does artificial intelligence, automation, big data or cyber security affect the medical devices and life sciences world? Are the medical companies, global leaders, changing to treat better the patients in the interconnected world? Is Costa Rica part of these global changes in the industry? These and other topics will be part of the forum which central theme is: “Converging technologies lead the future of MedTech.”
Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director of CINDE, commented: “Costa Rica is positioned as one of the venues leaders in the life sciences sector, gathering a total of 72 companies from this industry, with 6 of the 10 biggest companies from the cardiovascular subsector. The event consolidates the country as a generator of world class knowledge and enables us to bring experts of higher sophisticated branches from the life sciences sector, which launches the country’s success, too.”
“The same assistants have catalogued the forum as one of the best in the region,” he added.
More than 80 companies will be part of the forum’s exhibition, as well as business meetings, thematic plenaries and interactive spaces with new technologies.
Data from the sector
-The life sciences sector leads the goods exports list in Costa Rica.
-Last year, it generated $2847 million, which is $278 million more than 2016.
-It also represented 27% of the goods exports from Costa Rica in 2017, followed by the agricultural sector with 26%.
-This sector exports a wide range of medical devices such as: cardiovascular, aesthetic, optics, dental, neuro-endovascular, and orthopedic.
-The main markets where Costa Rica exported medical and precision equipment was the United States, Belgium and Japan.
-7 of the 10 first goods exports belong to companies attracted by CINDE, from which 5 of those 7 are from the medical devices sector.
